Well the Parkes Brood blog will finally be about a brood. We are expecting our second baby! I'm 10 weeks along, we are due around January 25th 2012. As you can see from the pictures above, we have already had our first ultrasound. We do plan on having another ultrasound in about 10 more weeks to find out the baby's sex. We aren't really looking at names much yet. We are just going to wait until we find out what we are having. I'm feeling a little worse this time around, but not that bad. The Klaus smiles and kisses keep me feeling pretty good overall. We haven't decided how many kids we are going to have yet, but we have decided this is the last one I'm going to birth. If we do decide to have more, we will be adopting.
Well, that is the latest family news. Now for the Klaus update. He has had one heck of a month. So many changes! He finally got his first tooth the day after Mama and Daddy got back from vacation. Then he got his second tooth a week later. They are not completely in yet, but he has the two bottom front teeth now. That same week he also started holding his bottle on his own. Mama had been working on teaching him this one to free her up a little bit. He can also hold his own sippy cup, but it is a little more challenging. When drinking from either on his own, he needs to be pretty reclined to help him tip them up enough.
He was pulling up before, but now he can get back down by himself. He pulls up constantly and walks along holding furniture, baby gates, etc. He loves to walk! He will be happy holding your hands and walking loops around the house until he collapses from exhaustion. We are working on trying to get him to do it holding just one hand, but he isn't real keen on that yet. He also has a little push racecar that he loves to walk by himself. Klaus is also getting better at clapping. Most of the time when he claps he says his version of a "Yeah!" with it. He loves to play patty cake over and over. He prefers to hold your hands and make them clap and do the actions for patty cake though. He also gives high fives now. "Uncle" Brandon came to visit last week and taught him to high five in matter of 6 hours. He is still working on waving hi and bye.
Klaus still loves to go. He likes to go to the store, to friends' houses, to the pool, etc. He loves to watch and interact with people and other kids. Last week he took his first trip to the zoo. He had so much fun. His favorite were the animals in water (walrus, seals, penguins, etc.) They were the most active and they were the closest to him because of the glass tanks. His very favorite were the dolphins though. The picture above is him in the underwater dolphin dome pressed against the glass. He would bang on the glass and squeal every time one swam close. We will be going back again soon. I didn't let him pet a shark this time, so maybe next time we can try that too.
He is still a good eater. We are working on eating more proteins and more big kids foods. He currently loves strawberry yogurt and the dissolving cereal puffs. He's not real keen on foods that are too hard or with too much texture. He is really use to his pureed foods. We are branching out though.
Well, that is about it for now. We don't have any big plans for the 4th yet, so we'll see what we come up with. I'll post again soon with the stats from Klaus's 9 month check up (I'm curious how big he is now) and some links to old videos I never got posted. They are still entertaining to watch, though they are almost 2 months old now. We are looking forward to Daddy's birthday and Aunt Beth's wedding in a few weeks too.
