Klaus is 4 Months Old

Klaus had his 4 month check up last week and he is doing awesome! At the doctor he weighed 15 lbs 9.6oz. He measured 25in tall. He is right about the 50th percentile for height, weight, and head size. He got two booster shots, and as soon as I picked him up after getting the shots, he stopped crying. He was such a trooper. The doctor gave us the go ahead to start trying rice cereal once a day to get him use to eating solids and using a spoon. You may have seen the video I posted on facebook already, but he loves the spoon and isn't real big on the rice cereal. Once he starts eating the cereal well for a month, we can start adding veggies and fruit. Mommy is having as much playing with the baby dishes as Klaus.

In other advancements, Klaus is interacting more with everyone. He smiles, laughs, talks, etc. He is quite the flirt with the ladies. He likes to watch people and Clover bunny. He went to watch Aunt Casie play volleyball a couple weeks ago, and he was more than happy to sit and watch the game...and watch the girls in the spandex shorts. He didn't mind being passed around among all the volleyball players either. He also just this week started blowing raspberries. He spits a lot and doesn't always make the sound, but he loves doing it. He will mimic you if you blow raspberries at him. He has also on occasion given Eskimo kisses. His are more like a little head butt. He's not real consistent with those yet.

We've been trying to get out in this nice weather the past couple days. Klaus is really good about being on the go and not getting fussy. We met Daddy downtown for lunch this week, and we visited lots of Grandmas. We saw Granny Franny and Great Grandma Betty on Sunday for Great Grandma Betty's birthday. We ran into Great Grandma Peggy at the hospital on Monday when Mama was getting her blood work done. (Turns out I don't have a thyroid problem or anemia. I'm just a really tired Mama I guess...who is slowly losing her hair.) An then Grammie Connie stayed with us. Grammie Connie got to spend two days with us babysitting so Mama could go to work this week. It has been a good week for Klaus.

The only negative thing I have to report is that Klaus hates nap time. He is still going to bed ok and sleeping about 11 hours through the night. But he fights naps as if falling asleep will kill him. He is getting active enough now that he gets tired and needs a nap about every two hours. A nap for him is between 20 and 60 minutes, so that's why he needs one so often. The only time he is ever fussy and difficult is when he gets tired, so he really needs his naps. When you try to lay him down, or even snuggle and rock him, he wails, kicks, whips is head back and forth, and now blows raspberries to keep himself awake. Mama really hopes this is a phase.

Well, his nap is almost over so I should get off here now. Enjoy the pictures and check out the web address below if you haven't seen his eating cereal video yet. Thanks for reading.
